Mission
The President's Council on Women is charged with advocating
to the President and Provost for the advancement of all women at
The Ohio State University and advocating for the development of policies
and practices that positively impact the environment for all women
at The Ohio State University. Its charge is to:
- Identify issues critical to the environment of faculty, staff and
student women, including issues that may directly affect that environment
as well as an assessment of the differential impact on women of
all
University
policies;
- Identify best practices in addressing those issues
of concern; · Gauge
the difference between current OSU policies and the best practices;
- Propose
strategies and solutions to correct those differences;
- Advocate for
implementation of solutions;
- Advocate for the development of policies
to positively impact the environment for student, faculty and staff
women;
- Develop a process for evaluating the progress of women at
OSU by comparisons to external institutions as well as internal standards;
- Advocate
for accountability within and among the OSU community for implementation,
including with Deans, Chairs and administrators,
and
- Support the University in carrying through these proactive strategies.
To support The Women's Place in providing structural support to accomplish
its overall mission by:
- Reviewing the direction and priorities for The Women's Place;
- Providing
oversight of the budget, funding, tools, processes and infrastructure
needed to serve the mission of The Women's Place; and
- Assisting
the President and Provost in evaluating the work of The Women's
Place in carrying out its mission.
